David Beresford is the son of a mine worker from South Yorkshire. He attended Barnsley School of Art, Hammersmith College of Art and the Royal College of Art, School of Film and Television. He then did programme making at Yorkshire Television ending up as an independent producer director. He returned to Art work after making a series of programmes in Mexico with the poet Ian McMillan. He then returned to Mexico City with an exhibition of Paintings and Poems with Ian. This exhibition lead to David Painting full time.

David has now lived in Lower Wharfedale for twenty seven years surrounded by an amazing and ever changing landscape which has had a strong influence his work. Travel in India and Mexico along with other places has also had a profound influence.
